It is said that, ‘when the purpose of a thing is unknown, abuse is inevitable.’ I strongly concur.
Check many lives on earth today, we have many persons living their lives haphazardly due to lack of knowledge about the essence of their existence on earth. They haven’t been able to sit down and define who they are and why they are on earth.
Don’t make the mistake of thinking that some persons were created just to live and die. God doesn’t create just to waste his time, he has a reason and that’s what we need to find out, to avoid living a meaningless life.
Do away with the myth which follows the saying “when you are successful in your career, marriage, business, etc., you are doing the right thing and equally living a fulfilled life”. A book I authored, ‘Growing Right,’ will make you understand that not all good things done by people are the right things. Many at times, the devil push men to eat the fruit of deception, making them equate their success or achievements to purpose fulfilment.
See, it’s very possible to be a pulpit minister of God, yet that is not what God has sent you to do on earth, although, you are doing a good thing but it’s not the right thing. Sometimes, people choose where they want to feature and fulfil, keeping God out of their decisions. The truth is, those times you were investing your energy on the good thing, you missed out on the right thing. The only way to catch up is to first retrace your footsteps, then locate the right thing and start again, else, you can’t move forward. But pride won’t let many do the right thing so they just continue with the good. Truly, how do you expect a minister with a congregation to go back and be the intercessor God called him to be? It’s not so easy, but the right thing is worth doing.
The reason many fall into error is because they fail to spend time with the Lord and ask him questions about themselves, so they just move in accordance with their emotions and not by the revelation of God.
Whenever we buy a new product, the first thing we do is to read the manual and know exactly what the manufacturer wants us to do with the product. Same as humans, God created us, so the only way we’d ever know exactly how to function effectively is to meet our manufacturer, God, and ask him how exactly we should function.
Jeremiah 1:5 (KJV) : Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.
Going through this scripture, we can see that God is the only one who can tell you exactly why you are on earth, and that’s because, before you were formed, he already knows you. He ordained Jeremiah as a prophet, how about you? What did he ordain you as? Have you found out?
Joshua 1:8 (KJV) : This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
Without ambiguity, in this scripture, he gave us steps we should take to attain true fulfilment on earth, and he called our fulfilment “prosperity and good success”.
✓ We have to be a huge fan of the book of the law, THE BIBLE.
✓ We have to know it, understand it and speak it with conviction
✓ We have to meditate on His word day and night, not day or night
✓ We should keep to the laws and do them i.e., doing what the scripture says we should do.
After all these, prosperity and good success is inevitable.
Now look at the steps again, do you notice that none of what has been written there is achievable without first being born again and having a life of prayer? The steps are taking you through a process of transformation into God’s nature. No man without God’s nature can keep his laws.
So firstly, you have to be born again; accept Jesus as your personal Lord and saviour.
Secondly, you have to be a man of prayer, so that as you go through his word day and night, the eyes of your understanding will be enlightened and it can rest on the table of your heart.
Ephesians 1:17-18a (KJV) : That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him; The eyes of your understanding being enlightened
Proverbs 7:1-3 (KJV) : My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee; Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye; Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.
Do you want the spirit of God to rest upon you?
Do you want to live a fulfilled life?
> Then be given to THE WORD and PRAYER, only by this can you be sanctified.
1st Timothy 4:4-54 (KJV) : For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving; For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
You too are God’s creature and like I earlier said, your sanctification is by the word and prayer.
> You must build and maintain your relationship with God. The Lord has to be Lord over you. He will give you instructions, and only by obedience to his instructions will you make progress. Your true self is revealed as you obey. Sometimes, the instructions might be weird, but you don’t have to always understand it, just obey.
CONCLUSION:
• You can only find you after you have first found God.
• The unveiling of your true self is progressive, so you must be a diligent follower of God, obeying his instructions and becoming like him.
• Your life starts counting the day you find purpose and start fulfilling.
• If you do the right thing, you too can boldly declare like Apostle Paul, “I have fought a good fight of faith and I have finished my course”.
